This is a young planting of evergreen trees along the North and West side of a farmstead for winter protection from blowing snow and winds. Generally a minimum of three rows of evergreen trees are planted for winter snow and wind protection. Additional rows of deciduous trees and shrubs can be added for wildlife benefit.
